
PHONICS represents the manner in which we use letters to represent special sounds. These sounds make up the words.
CONSONANTS are all letters excluding vowels (a, e, i, o, u and sometimes y). They can be combined to make different sounds (e.g. bl, ch, scr) called consonant blends.
Consonant sounds may appear at the beginning of a word, in the middle of a word or at the end of a word (e.g. man, camel, arm}.
